Magtec took Lib Dem councillors on a tour, starting from Sheffield Town Hall, visiting our vehicle conversion site in Rotherham and our component manufacturing site in Sheffield. Coun Ian Auckland, transport spokesman for Sheffield Liberal Democrats, said: “A bus is the answer to many urban transport problems. The engine for the bus of the future is being made today right here in Sheffield. This engine is electric powered by batteries. The engine is compact, silent, powerful and crucially pollution free, and battery fuel lasts a full day. I'm very very impressed by Magtec. The leaders of this company are committed to Sheffield and South Yorkshire and we need to see them powering vehicles on the streets of Sheffield.”

A Brighton bus company is the first in the UK to add solar-powered electric buses to its fleet.

They'll be charged overnight at The Big Lemon's depot - using light stored throughout the day.

The two new buses will run between Wooding Dean and the city centre - joining the existing fleet which runs on used cooking oil.

A landmark moment has been celebrated in York today as it has become the first UK city outside London to trial a new fully electric double decker bus.

Representatives from City of York Council, First York and local bus manufacturer, Optare welcomed the arrival of the first "Metrodecker EV" (powered by MAGTEC) in York today, which will be trialled on the York Park & Ride network and selected city routes over the next month.

The zero-emission and fully electric bus has the capacity to carry 99 passengers and has a range of nearly 150 miles from one overnight charge.

The new vehicle is being trialled in York following the recent announcement that improvements will be made to the city’s already successful Park & Ride scheme.
